Detailed directions to Newry Showgrounds
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT : Take an Ulsterbus to Newry e.g. the 238 from Belfast Europa Buscentre. The Showgrounds are about one mile from Newry Buscentre.
After arriving at Newry Buscentre leave the building and enter onto The Mall - a cobble stone street. From The Mall walk past the Taxi Office (or get a taxi if that suits you) and onto Hill Street. You are facing Woolworths. Take a right up Hill Street and walk for about 300 yards passing the Cathedral and Dunnes Stores, until you reach The Town Bar. If it is a match day there will be a free bus leaving the Town Bar for the Showgrounds. Otherwise continue up Hill Street until you meet the roundabout. Carry straight on following the road to Warrenpoint. Walk half a mile to the next roundabout beside the graveyard. Take the right off this roundabout into Greenbank Industrial Estate. The Showgrounds are along the right about 200 yards from the entrance to the industrial estate.
BY CAR: Assuming you are travelling south to Newry. Take the M1 out of Belfast following the signs to Dublin/Newry. Eight miles along the M1 there is an exit at Sprucefield for the A1 take this exit and follow the signs for the A1 Dublin and Newry. Be careful on the big roundabout here. The A1 will bring you to Newry where you will first meet a roundabout giving you the option of by-passing Newry to travel towards Dublin or entering into Newry and the Town Centre. Travel straight on towards the town centre. You will pass the Mourne Country Hotel and Ardmore RUC station. After half a mile you will come to another roundabout. Follow directions to Newry town centre - straight on. You will come to another roundabout after a further 20 metres. Again travel straight on towards the Town Centre. You will pass The Brass Monkey Bar on your left. Travel straight on staying to the left past the Bank of Ireland. Stay to the left at the traffic lights following signs for Dublin and Warrenpoint. Travel on this dual carraigeway. You will see the flats on your left. You will come to another roundabout- stay to the right travelling towards Warrenpoint. After this roundabout move to the left lane and approach the next roundabout. Exit to the left following signs for Warrenpoint. Carry straight on following the road to Warrenpoint. Travel half a mile to the next roundabout beside the graveyard. Take the right off this roundabout into Greenbank Industrial Estate. The Showgrounds are along the right about 200 yards from the entrance to the industrial estate.
