Gerry Flynn's Newry completed a great week with a third consecutive win on St Patrick's Day. After wins over Glenavon (league) and Loughgall (Mid Ulster) Newry travelled to Limavady and came away with a 3-2 victory.
It was a hard fought win in difficult conditions but Newry showed grit to see off their hosts who were led by an inspired Austy Friel. James Willis gave Newry an early lead but Friel levelled before half time. Willis put Newry ahead again on 47 before a penalty brought Limavady level on 66. Newry saw off some home pressure before Ian Curran hammered home from the edge of the box on 83 minutes. Three points gained made it a pleasant, if long, trip home for Newry's small band of loyal supporters.
Team: Robinson, Hudson, Kelly, Donegan, I Curran, Clarke, King, D Curran, Willis, McArdle, Ferguson. Subs: Keegan for McArdle. Quinn, Feeney.
