Newry earned a point at Donegal Celtic after playing out a one all draw with their hosts. City dominated the first half but had to wait until the 44th minute to get in front when Andy Crawford cracked home a super finish. There was joy among the away support, albeit tempered by the fact that we were standing on a treacherous grassy hill.
Crawford was making amends for an earlier penalty which was saved by the DC keeper. DC came on strong as the 2nd half progressed and although Robert Robinson had little to do in the Newry goal, they did equalise on 73 minutes when Lagan fired home from a corner. So once again we couldn't hold on to a lead although on the plus side it's now 3 away games unbeaten. |

Newry have appointed Gerry Flynn as head coach. The former player succeeds Roy Coyle in the post.
BBC NI quotes Alan Williams as saying that, "Gerry is the sort of guy we need. He knows the players and is enthuasistic."
"He is qualified as a coach and is a keen young man. We believe he can lift morale in the team.
"Gerry will be in charge until the end of the season and hopefully beyond that."
Gerry was a popular player among Newry supporters who no doubt will give him their full support in the new job. |
