Newry will aim to lift their first piece of silverware in seven years when they play Annagh Utd in the Mid Ulster Cup final. Newry qualified for the final by beating Loughgall 2-0 in a scrappy game at Lakeview Park. After a poor first half, Newry sealed the win with fine 2nd half goals from Stephen Ferguson and Cormac McArdle.
Before then Newry make the long journey to Limavady on St Patrick's Day. We won 4-1 up there last season but this will be a difficult game as Newry seek a third win on the bounce. Limavady have a decent home record and have won 4 and drawn 2 of their last 6 league games at home, including winning the last 3. |

Newry came from 2 down to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory over Glenavon at the Showgrounds this afternoon. Anyone remember the last time we came from 2 down to win? |

Newry went down to a 2-0 defeat at the Oval on Friday. To make matters worse Dee Curran was sent off in the first half for two yellows. Lucky for Loughgall that Weatherall wasn't doing our game with them last week. It was a typical Newry performance: playing well in midfield, toothless up front and always likely to concede at the back. Hardly a surprise as it was our tenth defeat in a row at the Oval.
With things fairly tight at the bottom our upcoming games versus Glenavon (home), Limavady (away) and Crusaders (home) are crucial. Particularly so when you try and imagine how many points await us in April. You wouldn't fancy meeting up with Bangor again, would you? |
